Bluetooth speaker types
There are three types of Bluetooth speakers.
Mono is a standard single speaker that is compact and lightweight. Such a speaker will not be able to reproduce real, high-quality sound, but it can produce quite loud sound.
The stereo speaker has two built-in speakers and, accordingly, provides a sufficiently high power. Such a speaker gives a more spacious sound, but the sound quality will depend on the quality of the built-in components.
Stereo speakers can also have a built-in sub-woofer, thereby enhancing bass reproduction.
Type 2.1 – separate two speakers and a sub-woofer. Such a speaker system will give expressive bass and perfectly clear rhythm, so it is suitable for those who like to listen to sufficiently high-quality music. System 2.1 will sound loud and high quality.
Bluetooth speakers connecting
Most Bluetooth speakers connect to smartphones, tablets or computers via Bluetooth wirelessly. However, there are a huge number of portable speakers that support both a 3.5mm AUX cable connection and even an optical one.
Having a cable connection is very convenient, because if the speaker’s battery runs out, you can easily connect the speaker using a cable.
Battery powered or mains powered?
It goes without saying that the advantage of battery operation is the portability of the speaker. However, sufficiently powerful speakers operate only from the mains, which allows you to listen to music at maximum volume for an unlimited time.
Key parameters – power and range
It is clear that the higher the output power of the speaker system, the higher the sound volume. A speaker with a power of 3-5W will play louder than a smartphone or tablet, but not enough for a large room. A speaker with power up to 10W is already suitable for an average room, but not enough for outdoor use. The speaker system with power up to 20W and above can be used both indoors and outdoors. Powerful speakers will be larger in size than low-power speakers.
Range affects the quality of sound reproduction. The wider the range will be the richer and more detailed the sound reproduction in the speakers. Because the average person can hear sounds in the range from 16 to 20,000 Hz; it makes no sense to buy a speaker with a large range.
