Anyone who uses in-ear headphones knows that not all ear tips are created equal.

Types of ear tips:

The standard silicone ear tips are the ones you usually get with your earphones. Such tips don’t differ much from each other, only in size and color. Standard ear tips can be supplied with any type of earphones, cheap and relatively expensive. The only difference is that higher-quality foam tips will be present in the set with expensive earphones. Standard tips are soft, semi-hard and hard. They also differ in thickness. The harder and thicker the silicone, the better the noise reduction. On the other hand, hard ear tips can be uncomfortable for some people due to the shape of the ear canal. For some people, no silicone ear tips are suitable at all, they don’t stick in the ear and fall out. In any case, we don’t recommend using simple, cheap rubber tips.

Foam air tips are made from a special porous material. Basically, it is a compressed sponge, the quality of which depends on the price and manufacturer. Soft foam tips will last less but are more comfortable than hard foam tips. Due to the dense enveloping of the auricle, the low bass frequencies are heard much better in the foam tips than in the silicone tips.

What tips, with what earphones are used?

Headphone attachments are of different types and sizes. In inexpensive headphones, these mounts have universal dimensions, but in expensive ones, they can vary significantly. That is why well-known manufacturers classify ear tips into the following types: ear tips for wired headphones, ear tips for monitors, ear tips for tws earphones, for Apple wireless earbuds, and ear tips for sports earphones.
