Сooling Systems – Our computers have chips and those chips produce heat, sometimes when you use a computer a lot and a workload is created on it then your computer may heat up and when the computer heats up damage can occur that will not allow further work on the computer and even irreversible damage may occur. To keep your computer from overheating and from the damage that can be caused by the computer overheating, there are various cooling systems that are in the computer and help keep it at a low and proper temperature.
Cooling systems have two different functions:
The first job is to ventilate the parts that tend to heat up and the second job is to slow down the computer as it starts to heat up so that it heats up less.
Desktop computer cooling systems:
Cooling slots – The desktop computer is housed in a case designed to protect it from damage. Every desktop computer has slots on the sides of the computer that allow it to ventilate.
Fans – Each computer usually has 4 and more fans.
Each fan has its own function, one draws air, the other blows out air, the third ventilates the power supply and the fourth is attached to the CPU. Computers that have a special graphics card come with the addition of an additional fan located on the graphics card processor.
Heatsinks – The heatsinks are located between the heating chip and the fan and are designed for extra cooling for chips that tend to heat up more than the others.
Thermal medium – a material designed to improve thermal conductivity. It is located between the heat sinks and chips.
Laptop cooling systems:
Laptops tend to heat up much less than desktops because the chips they contain are smaller and have lower power frequencies.
Most laptops have only one heatsink designed to cover the processor and the north bridge. A laptop has heatsinks only on one side of it.
Most laptops have a single fan mounted on the heat sink in the part above the processor.
Laptops designed for gaming and graphics usually have two fans and two heatsinks.
How to choose a cooling system?
Sometimes the fans on your computer can overheat and be destroyed or you will feel that the computer overheats and you want to add another fan, so how do you choose a fan?
There are fans in different sizes and there are almost any size you want from 80mm to 200mm.
The most common fans are 80 and 120 mm in size. If you are not sure which fan size is right for your computer, you can easily check this by measuring the distance between the fan mounts in the case.
It is important to remember that the size of the fan does not determine its quality.
To cool notebook computers use external devices such as a cooling stands. These stands are made for different sizes of laptops, and the fan in them is powered by a cable connected to the computer’s USB port.
Think about what your goal is and what you want to achieve with the fan and concentrate on looking for it. Check the size of your computer and the free connection on your computer for a fan. Another statistic is to pay attention to the noise of the fan because no one wants a fan that makes a large amount of noise.
At Leader Computers we will be happy to advise you and help you choose the best cooling system for your computer.
