Sound recording studio
If you are a musician, creating music, editing music files, or recording a new music album, then you will undoubtedly need a recording studio. Perhaps, if you yourself don’t know how to work with programs for editing music files, you will also need a specialist in this area, it all depends on your knowledge and capabilities.
A recording studio is a specially equipped room. The studio can be either large or small, as long as it meets the basic requirements and standards.
Acoustics
The studio must be acoustically prepared to use it. All walls, ceiling and floor must be protected with acoustic materials. Such materials can be acoustic foam rubber, acoustic panels using stone wool, bass traps, special acoustic wood panels. The acoustic protection of the studio is verified by special devices and programs.
Computer hardware
is one of the most important types of equipment in a recording studio. The speed and quality of processing music files depends on it. The most suitable computer equipment, in our opinion, is a desktop computer with a 27-inch screen. Today, the following computer configuration is suitable: i7 processor, RAM 16-32GB, SSD drive 500-1000GB.
Software
is the software that you will be running on your computer hardware. For personal computers, this is the Windows 10 operating system, as well as programs for editing music files, CUBASE 11 Pro, WaveLable and others. If you use an Apple computer for work, then you can use the above programs and programs developed specifically for the operating system MAC OS, for example, Logic Pro.
Table – a sufficiently deep and stable table, it is necessary to place on it various musical equipment, microphones, midi keyboards, monitors, headphones, as well as a computer screen, keyboard and mouse. It is advisable to have a strong wooden table.
A chair – is the thing that you shouldn’t save on, because you need to sit on it for many hours. It is advisable to have an orthopedic chair on wheels and more than one.
The sound card
is the heart of the recording studio. Correctly selected sound card is a guarantee of excellent recording quality. The card should include the maximum number of microphone and instrument inputs that can be used in a given recording studio. In our recording studio we have the ability to record 12 channels.
Microphones – these can be dynamic and condenser microphones for various types of recording. The quality of the microphones has a significant impact on the level of your recording.
Microphone stands – there should be enough of them and they should be of all types, desktop, floor standing, hanging, with a clip, etc.
Headphones – there must be several types, closed and open, as they must be suitable for any type of editing and recording. Of course, in a recording studio, only studio headphones are used.
Headphone stands – In order to keep your headphones intact, it makes sense to take care of their storage space. Desktop stands and microphone stand holders are best suited for this purpose.
Studio monitors – it is desirable that there are several pairs of different sizes. For a small room, 5 inch monitors are suitable, for a medium one, 5-6 inch, for a large one, 7-8 inch.
Monitor racks
it is best not to place monitors on your desktop. There are various options for mounting studio monitors, but it is best to use a monitor floor stand. If there is no space for floor stands, then you can place the monitors on the table, but on special foam stands, or on desktop stands.
Midi keyboard – a midi keyboard may be needed in a recording studio. Midi keyboards differ in the number of keys and the presence of additional musical chips.
A mixer – is also one of the devices that can be used in a recording studio. There is a huge variety of mixers, but their main difference is the number of inputs and outputs, the presence of effects, as well as the technological difference, namely, analog or digital.
Audio cables – are not only the ones that connect all the audio equipment in the studio, but also additional cables that the recording studio may need to connect any audio devices. Of course, it is better to use good brand cables that have better audio quality.
In general, in order to obtain high quality recordings, it is best not to skimp on the sound equipment used in the recording studio.
