Studio speakers and acoustic systems

Types of acoustic systems

Acoustic systems are a variety of speakers of various types and purposes:

Floor acoustics. Floor-standing speakers, they are large and, depending on their type, can be used at home, in the studio, on the street and on stage.

Shelf acoustics. Shelf speakers are much smaller than floor-standing speakers and can be located not only on special shelves, but also on the table surface and on special stands of various heights. Shelf speakers can be used in homes and studios.

Wall acoustics. These are speakers of various sizes that are hung on special mounts under the ceiling. These speakers can be used both at home and in studios and on stage.

Built-in acoustics. These are small loudspeakers, usually of a passive type, that are embedded in plaster structures in walls and ceilings. Most often, such acoustic systems are used in offices, clinics, conference rooms, hotels and other similar premises. Of course, such systems can be built into elevators, trains and airplanes.

Street acoustics. This type includes outdoor speakers, floor-standing and wall-mounted types that can be used on street stages, stadiums and other events, it can be a speaker that street musicians like to use. In addition, any portable Bluetooth speaker also applies to outdoor acoustics. Street acoustics also include special amplifying systems used by tour guides and so-called megaphones, which are usually used at meetings.

Home acoustic systems. Such systems include any kind of tuners, computer speakers, speakers for sound systems, for televisions and home theaters. Such systems can include from one to 5-6 speakers, including a sub-woofer.

Connecting acoustic systems

Acoustic systems can be connected to a sound source either using cables or wirelessly via Bluetooth connection.

What can determine the quality of reproduction of acoustic systems?

The sound reproduction quality of speakers depends not only on the speakers, but also on the sound source, and on the quality of the recorded sound, and on the connecting cables themselves. Therefore, it is probably not worth buying a very expensive speaker system if you don’t have a sound player of the same level. However, the presence of high quality speakers can undoubtedly improve the sound quality.
